Auto-tag orders and customers.
Then fix your whole history.
Segmently applies your tagging rules to every new order and customer in real time — and, unlike anything built on workflows, applies them backwards across your entire order history in a single run.
Everything tagging should have been
Tags are the lowest-friction structure Shopify gives you. They feed reports, segments, email lists, Flow and fulfilment routing — and applied by hand they never scale.
Backfill your entire history
Apply any rule retroactively to every order and customer you have ever had — not the most recent 100. Built on Shopify Bulk Operations, so it runs server-side and is exempt from the usual rate limits.
One rule, order and customer
Tag the order and the person who placed it in a single rule. No duplicated logic, no second app, no second subscription.
A real tag manager
See every order and customer tag with live counts. Rename, merge and bulk-delete across your whole store. Finally clean up years of typos and abandoned experiments.
Real-time on every trigger
Orders created, paid, fulfilled, cancelled or refunded, and customers created or updated. Deduplicated, idempotent, and typically applied within seconds.
Conditions that match reality
Totals, products, collections, SKUs, vendors, country, ZIP, discount codes, gateway, shipping method, risk level, line-item properties, lifetime spend and order count — combined with AND, OR and NOT.
Tags that clean up after themselves
Give a tag a lifespan and Segmently removes it when it expires. Schedule nightly re-evaluation so segments stay true as customers change.
Live in about two minutes
Pick a rule from the library
First-time buyer, VIP by lifetime spend, high-risk, refund-prone, wholesale, personalised item, tag by destination country. Sixteen presets, each editable.
Run it across your history
Choose a date range or take everything. Watch live progress as records are scanned, matched and tagged.
Leave it running
New orders and customers are tagged automatically from that moment on, using exactly the same rule.
Honest about Shopify Flow
Flow is free on every plan and it tags new orders well. We are not going to tell you otherwise. Here is the part it structurally cannot do — and the reason Segmently exists.
| Capability | Shopify Flow | Segmently |
|---|---|---|
| Auto-tag new orders and customers | ✓ | ✓ |
| Rich conditions (totals, products, gateway, country) | ✓ | ✓ |
| Backfill your full order history | ✕ | ✓ |
| Tag the order and its customer in one rule | ✕ | ✓ |
| Rename, merge and bulk-delete tags | ✕ | ✓ |
| Tag expiry and scheduled re-evaluation | ~ | ✓ |
| Tag inventory with live counts | ✕ | ✓ |
Flow's “Get data” action returns at most 100 items per run, which is why retroactive tagging is out of reach for it. Segmently uses Shopify Bulk Operations instead, which have no such limit.
Flat pricing. Backfill is never metered.
No per-tag fees, no per-run charges, no batch pricing. Pick a plan and use it.

Questions worth asking
How is this different from Shopify Flow, which is free?
Flow is genuinely good at tagging new orders, and we will not pretend otherwise. What it cannot do is go backwards: its data lookups are capped at 100 items per run, so it can never repair the history you already have. It also cannot tag an order and its customer from one workflow, and it offers no way to see, rename, merge or delete the tags already in your store. Segmently is built for exactly those gaps.
Will it overwrite the tags I already have?
No. Segmently uses Shopify's additive tag mutations, which add or remove specific tags and never replace the whole set. You can also mark tags as protected so no rule can ever remove them.
What customer data do you store?
None. Rules are evaluated in memory and only derived values are used — an email becomes its domain, an address becomes a country code. What we keep is the Shopify ID of a record and the tags we applied to it. No names, emails, phone numbers or street addresses ever reach our database.
How far back can the backfill go?
As far as your store goes. Reading orders older than 60 days needs Shopify's protected read_all_orders permission, which we request during review; until it is granted the backfill covers the most recent 60 days and the app tells you so plainly.
What happens if I uninstall?
The tags stay. They are ordinary Shopify tags on your own records, so everything you built keeps working in reports, segments, Flow and your email platform.
Your history is already full of answers.
Tag it, and every report you own gets better at once.
